Israeli company Vayyar has created a “home intelligence sensing” device that not only protects families from intruders but also evaluates the health of those inside. The tiny wall-mounted device can be customized to accommodate different needs and requirements.

Called “Vayyar Home,” the smart sensor uses 4-D Point Cloud imaging to monitor homes for intruders as well as the people inside without the use of cameras. Rather, it uses a system similar to WiFi to “scan the environment using harmless radio waves a thousand times weaker than a cellphone,” according to the company’s website.

In the event of a fire, it automatically summons emergency responders.

The device is in its final approval stages in the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and Japan.

The device is especially important for elderly people living alone as it can track people entering or exiting the home. In addition, it analyzes one’s gait, breathing and can report health deterioration, fall risk, dementia and the onset of urinary track infections. It also evaluates the quality of one’s sleep patterns, as well as activity levels.

Should someone fall, the device immediately and automatically calls a chosen list of designated contacts. The company conducted 1,200 tests across 17 different fall scenarios and achieved industry leading detection rates.

Vayyar Home even automatically adjusts lights, TV, heat or air-conditioning based on family desires. And, it works in light or darkness as well as smoke or steam.

Vayyar, founded in 2011, also developed low-cost 4D imaging sensors that detect cancer and babies left in cars.
