A group of young Israelis traveled overseas to Winnipeg for training to improve their hockey skills in the country where hockey is the national sport. 

Seventeen players from the Canada Israel Hockey School in Metula, a city in northern Israel, traveled to Winnipeg for a week of training. They will cap off the trip with an exhibition game against the local Winnipeg PeeWee league.

The Land of Israel is well known all over the world for its holy sites, its high tech companies, its world renowned military… but not yet for its champion ice hockey teams. Maybe soon!
