Netanyahu’s plan to annex the Jordan Valley was met with high praise from Israelis, while the Palestinians predictably rejected the move.
Following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement that he plans to extend Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan valley if reelected, residents of the area championed the plan, while lead Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat called it a “war crime.”
The area in question is home to a large number of Israeli communities, which seek improved infrastructure, permission to grow, and an end to the lie that they are perpetrating an “occupation.”
The only question remaining is whether Netanyahu will receive the “mandate” he needs in next week’s elections to make good on his campaign promise.
