The organization diagnoses, treats and operates on children with life-threatening heart diseases, more than half of them Palestinian, free of charge.

The non-profit ‘Save a Child’s Heart’ is funded mostly by private donors with some contributions from governments. It has performed surgery on 5,555 children since it was launched about two decades ago, with more than half of the treatments given to Palestinian children.

The latest milestone surgery was for a five-month old Palestinian boy from Gaza named Mahmad, who had surgery at Wolfson Medical Center in Holon.

Learn more about the lifesaving operation and the incredible organization from Dr. Sagi Assa, who performed the surgery on Mahmad.
