When Jewish -American teen Avi Schiffmann realized the gravity of the situation for Ukrainian refugees fleeing their country, he knew he had to do something to help.

Along with his friend, Marco Burstein, the duo set up UkraineTakeShelter.com, an independent platform connecting Ukrainian refugees with potential hosts and housing.
