Former Senator John McCain remained a tried-and-true supporter of Israel who consistently advocated the Jewish state’s inalienable right to protect itself.

While John McCain, who passed away on Saturday, may best be remembered as a warrior, a politician, and a contender for the White House, the former senator from Arizona also staked out his principled position on Israel, defending the Jewish State’s right to defend itself at every opportunity.

In a world in which political expediency and popularity in the polls frequently dictate elected officials’ loyalty, and lack thereof, McCain’s one-of-a-kind maverick attitude, especially as it related to Israel, will be sorely missed.
