Hackers who took over the security cameras at Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison leaked footage online on Monday.

The unidentified hackers said they wanted to draw attention to the prison’s harsh conditions. They released footage captured by Evins security cameras of prisoners and guards beating each other, a man smashing a mirror to cut open his arm, and more.

On Tuesday, the head of Iran’s prison organization, Mohammad Mehdi Haj Mohammadi took to Twitter to acknowledge the veracity of the footage and take responsibility for the “unacceptable behaviors” it exposed.
