Why did Jacob, who studied with the righteous Abraham and Isaac, choose to teach his beloved son the “Torah of Shem and Eber”?
This week’s Torah portion is “Vayeishev,” and in it we read about the biblical Joseph’s life.
We learn that his father, Jacob, taught him the “Torah of Shem and Eber,” referring to two characters who managed to remain righteous while living in a hostile, immoral environment.
