Why does this week’s Torah reading begin with the words, “And Yitro heard…?”
This week’s Torah portion is called “Yitro”, or Jethro, the name of Moses’ father-in-law.
Certainly Yitro wasn’t the only one who heard about the famous splitting of the Red Sea, among all the miracles that God had performed for the Jewish people. Why was he singled out for recognition?
Hint: Everyone was moved by the miraculous events, yet only Yitro took the inspiration to heart.
