US President-elect Donald Trump said that he supported Israel’s call for a veto on a draft resolution by the UN Security council to halt Israeli construction in eastern Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.
In a statement released by his transition team, Trump said that such a resolution “puts Israel in a very poor negotiating position and is extremely unfair to all Israelis.”
“Peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians will only come through direct negotiations between the parties, and not through the imposition of terms by the United Nations,” Trump stated.
