While world powers attempt to negotiate with Iran, the Islamic Republic’s threatening nuclear program progresses unchecked.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed again on Tuesday that Iran does not seek permission from anyone to progress in different scientific and technological fields, announcing that Tehran has accelerated its “peaceful” nuclear activities, Iran’s Fars News reports.

“We have made highly important progress in the nuclear field, but the negotiations receive so much attraction and hue and cry that they overshadow these activities, otherwise, we are running at a higher speed,” Rouhani said, addressing a ceremony to commemorate “space technology day” in Iran.

He underscored the Islamic Republic’s progress in various technological and scientific fields, stating, “We don’t and will not take permission from anyone to make progress in science and knowledge.”

Rouhani was referring to the negotiations underway between his country and the P5+1 powers regarding Iran’s nuclear aspirations, which seek to curb Iran’s nuclear development and ensure it cannot build a nuclear bomb. The Iranian leader said his government will continue its efforts to “defuse the enemies’ plots and show that their excuses and allegations are baseless.”

West Picking on Iran?

Rouhani’s remarks came after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei claimed that the international dispute over the country’s nuclear program is politicized as a pretext to put pressure on the Islamic Republic in an attempt to slow down its scientific and technological development and contain Iran’s influence across the Middle East and beyond.

Khamenei further alleged that even if Iran and the US arrive at an agreement regarding its nuclear program, the West will “come up with new excuses to antagonize Tehran.”

The tenth round of negotiations between Iran and the six world powers was held in Vienna in November, during which the seven nations decided to extend the talks until July after they failed to strike an agreement.

The latest round of the nuclear talks between Iran and the six world powers was held in February in Munich.

Both Iran and the P5+1 negotiators have stressed that cutting a final deal before the July 10 deadline is possible.

Israel to the World: Face the Reality of a Nuclear Iran

In the meantime, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu again underscored the existential threat Iran’s nuclear program poses to Israel. Speaking in Jerusalem on Monday, Netanyahu warned again, “The current proposal to Iran would endanger Israel. It would enable Iran to breakout to its first nuclear device within an unacceptably short time. And it would allow Iran to build an industrial capability to enrich uranium that could provide the fuel for many bombs in the coming years.”

“A regime that openly calls for Israel’s destruction would thus have finally the means to realize its genocidal aims. Now mind you, I’m not opposed to any deal with Iran,” Netanyahu declared, “but the current proposal will not solve the problem. It will perpetuate and aggravate the problem. It would provide a path for Iran to become a nuclear power.”

Nuclear Weapon Free Iran Act

The US Congress must ensure that sanctions against Iran remain in force until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated.

I strongly oppose easing sanctions before the nuclear threat from Iran has been eliminated. Allowing Iran to enrich uranium without being subject to 'anytime, anywhere' inspections is extremely dangerous and unacceptable. Iran's nuclear program must be stopped.
