Israeli security forces caught and apprehended an ISIS-affiliated terrorist from Gaza with a long rap sheet of activities against Israel and its citizens.
Israeli forces arrested a terrorist from the Gaza Strip who was involved in multiple attacks against Israel, some of which were carried out during Operation Protective Edge, the Shin Bet (Israel’s Security Agency) cleared for publication on Sunday
The terrorist, Eihab Saied Abed Elrachman Abu Nahel, 27, a resident of Gaza city, was arrested late July when he requested to relocate to Qatar to join a teachers’ training program and passed through Israel.
Abu Nahel was a member of the Islamist faction affiliated with Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization, which is part of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), an umbrella organization for terror organizations in Gaza.
During his investigation, Abu Nahel conveyed detailed information of his involvement in terror activities. He began as a member of Hamas’ military wing, in which he was trained in the use of weaponry, camouflage, observation techniques and tunnel building before joining the PRC.
In 2010 Abu Nahel was chosen by PRC leaders to execute a suicide attack against an Israeli target on the Israeli-Egyptian border, for which he trained intensively. Later that year he infiltrated the Sinai Peninsula through a terror tunnel on his way to carry out an attack on a civilian bus near Eilat. The terror attack did not go through for reasons unspecified.
In 2014 Abu Nahel joined the ISIS-affiliated Salafi faction of the PRC, in which he plotted to execute attacks against Israel.
During Operation Protective Edge, despite his affiliation with the Salafi faction, he joined Hamas terrorists to carry out various attacks against Israel along with Hamas’ Nachba Special Forces.
According to information extracted from Abu Nahal, the attacks included the planting and detonating of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) against IDF forces. They utilized the house of a Palestinian surgeon affiliated with Hamas as cover for the attacks.
Abu Nahel was indicted on August 30 at the Be’er Sheva regional court on 12 security-related charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and possession of weaponry and weapon trafficking.
