The Jewish Democratic Council of America responded, “President Trump is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts. In this case, both are just WRONG.”

U.S. President Donald Trump told Republican donors on Friday at Mar-a-Lago in Florida that the “Democrats hate Jewish people,” reported Axios.

The president made the statement following the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passing a resolution on Thursday condemning anti-Semitism and other forms of hatred.

That legislation came in response to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), who last week defended her recent remarks accusing her “Jewish colleagues” for attacking her and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) for labeling every criticism of theirs as anti-Israel because of the faith of the two congresswomen, in addition to slamming her critics regarding “the political influence in this country that says it is OK to push for allegiance to a foreign country.”

Additionally, the outlet, citing three sources who were at the event, said Trump remarked that “if he could run to be prime minister of Israel, he’d be at 98% in the polls.”

The Jewish Democratic Council of America jumped upon Trump’s accusation.

“President Trump is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts,” said the group in a statement. “In this case, both are just WRONG.”

“In the midterm elections, 82% of the two-party Jewish vote went to Democrats. 32/34 Jewish members of Congress are Democrats,” they continued. “As of early October, 70% Jewish voters disapproved of Trump’s handling of the rise of anti-Semitism in our country. Those are FACTS.”

The day after the House resolution passed, Trump labeled Democrats as “anti-Jewish” and “anti-Israel.”

“I thought [Thursday’s] vote by the House was disgraceful,” he told reporters at the White House. “The Democrats have become an anti-Israel party and anti-Jewish party.”
