“It’s more clear now, the BDS movement is disgustingly ant-Semitic,” said philanthropist Adam Milstein.

The U.S. State Department.is said to have updated the definition of anti-Semitism to include statements that make a comparison between Israeli policy and the Nazis.

Attention to this change seems to have emerged from a tweet by Adam Milstein, co-founder of the Adam & Gila Milstein Foundation, who describes himself as an “American advocate and philanthropist.”

“Kudos to Secretary Pompeo and Special Envoy Elan Carr,” tweeted Milstein.

Carr, an American attorney, was appointed in February by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to serve as the Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating Anti-Semitism.

“It’s more clear now, the BDS [anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions] Movement is disgustingly anti-Semitic,” Milstein said.

On his Twitter post, Milstein includes photos of State Department documents from May and August. The latter includes, as one of the definitions of anti-Semitism, ‘drawing comparisons between contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.”

In July, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a resolution opposing the BDS movement.

A resolution authored by Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn) that supported the BDS movement compared it to boycotts of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) signed on to that resolution.

“Americans of conscience have a proud history of participating in boycotts to advocate for human rights abroad, including … boycotting Nazi Germany from March 1933 to October 1941 in response to the dehumanization of the Jewish people in the lead-up to the Holocaust … the United States Olympic Committee boycotting the 1980 summer Olympics in Moscow in protest of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the preceding year; and leading the campaign in the 1980s to boycott South African goods in opposition to apartheid in that country,” said the resolution.

Other co-sponsors include Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), John Lewis (D-Ga.), Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.), Donald Payne (D-N.J.), Bobby Rush (D-Ill.), Danny Davis (D-Ill.), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), James McGovern (D-Mass.), Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.), Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.), Andre Carson (D-Ind.), Mark DeSaulnier (D-Calif.) and Joaquin Castro (D-Texas), whose brother, former U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro, is running for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
