Israel’s Defense Minister Naftali Bennett has expressed optimism over the country’s response to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis, stating that “there is light at the end of the coronavirus tunnel,” and there was no exponential growth in the rate of infections in Israel.

Speaking at a press conference, Bennett noted that Israel had the lowest mortality rate “among countries with a high rate of infection … even less than Germany.”

Israel on Tuesday was ranked the safest place in the world with regard to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) by the Deep Knowledge Group, a consortium of organizations and companies working in breakthrough technology and high tech engineering innovation through scientific advances.

The ranking was based on data by the World Health Organization (WHO), King’s College London, the Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S.’ leading public health agency.

Singapore, Slovakia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Hungary, Austria, Germany, and Greenland also ranked in the top ten.

As of Wednesday, the number of corona patients in Israel was around 5,500, with 83 in serious condition, 95 in moderate condition, and 163 who have recovered.

The mortality rate in Israel among Corona patients is one of the lowest in the world, with a 0.37% death rate. Italy has an 11% mortality rate, England has a 6% rate, the U.S. has 1.7%, and Germany has 0.8%.
