Blessing of the Kohanim on Sukkot

The Birkat Kohanim (Priestly Blessing) ceremony at the Kotel (Western Wall) was attended by thousands of Israelis and Jews who gathered on Sukkot from all over the world.

Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi David Lau and Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef were among several public dignitaries who came to attend the ceremony.

The blessing comes from Numbers 6:23-27 where Aaron and his sons are commanded to bestow the following blessing on the Jewish people: “May the LORD bless you and guard you, May the LORD make His face shed light upon you and be gracious unto you, May the LORD lift up His face unto you and give you peace.”

Seeing the return of many thousands of Jews to the Western Wall is an incredible sight to behold. Watch the video below, which demonstrates the sheer magnitude of this powerful event. The Birkat Kohanim ceremony has remained intact since the destruction of the second Jewish temple 2000 years ago!
