Continuing its ‘Pay for Slay’ policy, the PA will be giving Assem Barghouti, who was captured and arrested Tuesday morning, a higher starting salary than other baby-killers because of his previous acts of terror.

Assem Barghouti, suspected of participating in the murder of Amiad Ish-Ran, who survived only four days after his pregnant mother was shot in the stomach, and the IDF’s Staff Sergeant Yuval Mor Yosef and Sergeant Yosef Cohen, as well as the injuring of numerous others, was arrested Tuesday morning.

According to Palestinian Authority (PA) law and regulations, since Barghouti was arrested by Israel for his “participation in the struggle against the occupation,” he is entitled to a monthly salary from the PA of 6,000 shekels. According to PA law, his salary will increase over time to 12,000 shekels per month.

Barghouti’s starting salary is higher than most other terrorist prisoners, since he had already spent 11 years in prison for past involvement in terrorism. During his first term in prison, Barghouti received an estimated cumulative sum of 447,000 shekels.

Additionally, according PA law and regulations, upon his release Barghouti was also entitled to a $6,000 one-time release grant and a guaranteed salary paid by the PA even if he did not work.

Assem Barghouti is not the only baby-killer who receives a monthly salary from the PA.

Other recipients include Amjad and Hakim Awad, who murdered five members of the Fogel Family – parents and their three children, including three-month-old Hadas and four-year-old Eldad, in March 2011, and have already cumulatively received 460,800 shekels ($132,895); Abdullah Barghouti, who built six bombs used by suicide terrorists, including the one that exploded in the Sbarro pizza shop in August 2001, murdering 15 people – among them two-year-old Hemda Schijveschuurder – and who has already received 695,200 shekels ($200,496); and Majdi Za’atri, who planned the August 2003 Jerusalem bus bombing in which 23 people were murdered, including one-year-olds Shmuel Zargari and Shmuel Taubenfeld, and who has already received 661,800 shekels ($190,863).

Assem Barghouti was arrested on suspicion of carrying out the Ofra shooting attack, together with his brother Saleh Barghouti, and the Givat Assaf shooting attack with another terrorist.

As PMW reported, Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party was quick to glorify murderer Saleh Barghouti immediately after he was killed in an attempted arrest.

In addition to the salary the PA will pay to Assem Barghouti, it will also pay the family of his brother Saleh 1,400 shekels a month for life since he was killed as a “Martyr.”

The PA’s payment of salaries to Palestinian terrorist prisoners, released prisoners and the families of so-called “Martyrs” (according to the PA’s ‘Pay for Slay’ policy) was the subject of both US and Israeli legislation in 2018.

According to the Israeli legislation, the Minister of Defense must submit an annual report to the Security Cabinet detaling the amounts the PA has paid to the terrorist prisoners, released prisoners and families of the so-called Martyrs. Israel will then deduct the PA expenditure from the taxes that Israel collects and transfers to the PA. The first such report is expected in the coming days.

Ofra shooting attack – Palestinian terrorists shot and wounded 7 Israelis – a pregnant woman, her husband, another man, and four teenagers – in a drive-by shooting attack next to Ofra, north of Jerusalem, on Dec. 9, 2018. The pregnant woman was severely wounded and doctors had to deliver her baby prematurely before operating on her. The baby died three days later. The terrorists fled the scene but were located three days later. One terrorist, Saleh Omar Saleh Barghouti, was shot and killed by the Israeli army during the attempt to apprehend him, while other terrorists were taken into custody.

Givat Assaf shooting attack – Palestinian terrorist Assem Barghouti shot and murdered 2 Israelis and seriously wounded two others in a shooting attack next to Givat Assaf, near Ramallah, on Dec. 13, 2018. Barghouti fled the scene in a car driven by another terrorist.
