El ministro de Defensa, Avigdor Liberman, anunció hoy que el subjefe del Estado Mayor, mayor general Aviv Kochavi, sucederá al teniente general Gadi Eisenkot como el próximo jefe del Estado Mayor de las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel.

Liberman presentará la nominación de Kochavi el domingo al ex juez de la Corte Eliezer Goldberg, quien encabeza el comité asesor sobre nombramientos de alto nivel.

El Ministro de Defensa informó al Primer Ministro Benjamín Netanyahu y al Teniente General Eizenkot de su decisión.

Kochavi está dotado de «liderazgo, audacia, creatividad e impresionantes cualidades de mando», dijo Liberman.

Asimismo, el ministro también habló con los otros tres candidatos para el nombramiento y les informó de la selección.
