Este año se conmemoran dos aniversarios importantes y a la vez dolorosos para los judíos con orígenes en el Medio Oriente:

El 80 aniversario del Farjud, la masacre de judíos iraquíes y el 70 aniversario de la Operación Ezra y Nejemías, el rescate aéreo israelí de los judíos de Irak tras olas de ataques antisemitas.

Estos dos hechos marcaron el fin de una comunidad que llevaba más de dos milenios en ese lugar.
