Shlomo Mula was the second Jew from Ethiopia to become a member of the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, serving between 2008 and 2013.

In this video, Mula describes his dangerous trek that to any Westerner sounds like an adventure movie. But for those who crossed the hot, dry desert, facing immense danger in order to move to Israel – it was very real. Some didn’t make it.

Mula stresses that life for Jews in Ethiopia was actually simple and pleasant. They struggled to get to Israel, risking their lives, only because of their Zionist ideology. They were dreaming of the Jewish homeland.
