In the war against terror, which has intensified in recent weeks, the IDF closed down a Palestinian radio station in Hebron due to incitement to violence.

The Al Hurria radio station, run by the Palestinian Authority, was taken down overnight Monday in an IDF and Civil Administration operation due to incitement to terror, Israeli security forces announced.

Since the Jewish New Year in September, Palestinian terror attacks have been rampant not only in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria, but also across the country. Several attacks took place on Monday throughout the day, resulting in several people being wounded – one critically.

“Incitement has been core in aggravation, encouraging and celebration of the recent wave of terror. In the past month Palestinians have executed 29 attacks (22 stabbings, four car attacks and three shooting attacks) against Israeli civilians and security forces in Hebron,” the IDF stated in a press release Tuesday morning.

“Forces confiscated broadcasting equipment in order to prevent the incitement which has caused a flare of violence in the region over recent weeks,” the statement continued.

The Al Hurria station, launched in 2002 in Gaza by the Palestinian National Liberation Movement – another name for Fatah, the PA’s ruling party – was transferred to Hebron after Hamas took control of the Strip. It was shut down twice before – in 2002 and 2008.

The “station’s agenda encourages stabbing attacks and violent riots, and reports false and malicious claims of [Israeli] security forces executing and kidnapping Palestinians in order to provoke violence. The station glorifies attacks against Israelis and congratulates the families of attackers who died while executing attacks,” the IDF explained.

It appears that the station’s policies reflect PA policy. PA President Mahmoud Abbas and his regime continually incite violence against Jews. For instance, in September, when Arabs were rioting on the Temple Mount, Abbas stated: “Every drop of blood that has been spilled in Jerusalem is holy blood as long as it was for Allah…Al-Aqsa is ours, and they [Jews] have no right to defile it with their filthy feet.”

This week, in the midst of an intensive wave of terror, Abbas ordered full military honors at the terrorists’ funerals and financial grants to their families.
