Bedouins Israel

Israel’s security services are concerned about the growing support for ISIS’ ideology among its Bedouin population.

Israel has indicted a Bedouin with Israeli citizenship who aided an international Jihadist and helped him enter Israeli illegally, a police spokesman stated Monday.

The Bedouin, a student in his 20s, served as a substitute teacher at the Bedouin town of Tel Sheva, and during this time period established contacts with Islamic terrorists from various Arab countries.

In one case he agreed to help one of them enter Israel illegally so that he could join a Salafist-Jihadist terror cell and carry out attacks in Israel.

The suspect was arrested three weeks ago when he tried to re-enter Israel on his way back from Jordan.

He admitted during his questioning to maintaining contacts with global terrorist elements, and to plotting to join the Jihadist he wanted to help enter Israel illegally in carrying out terrorist attacks in Israel.

The Southern District State Attorney filed an indictment against him and requested that he be remanded during the remainder of the proceedings against him.

Israel’s security services are concerned about the spreading of Islamic State (ISIS) ideology among Israel’s Bedouin population in the Negev.

Israeli security forces have exposed several incidents of Bedouins joining ISIS-inspired terror elements, including four Bedouin teachers working in the Israeli school system in southern Israel who were arrested in July for distributing ISIS propaganda among their students and other educators in the Negev town of Hura.
