Israeli security forces uncovered a terror cell in the Jenin area that manufactured a rocket and conducted test launches as part of preparations to attack Israel and Israeli security forces, authorities announced Tuesday.
Six Jenin-area residents in their 30s were arrested following a months-long investigation conducted jointly by the Israel Police’s Judea and Samaria District Central Unit and the Shin Bet.
Security forces seized weapons connected to the cell, including an M16 rifle and an RPG body.
Investigators found that the suspects had manufactured a rocket body and explosive devices and conducted experiments with them, including three test rocket launches.
According to authorities, the cell also received information through a messaging application detailing materials required to manufacture explosives. The information was provided by an individual abroad who was in contact with the primary suspect.
Security forces additionally seized written materials containing instructions for manufacturing explosives, rockets and explosive devices intended for use against Israel and its security forces.
A prosecutor’s declaration was filed against all six suspects over the weekend, and indictments are expected to be filed in the coming days.
