Hours after the U.S. and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding to end the war, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) published an updated map on Thursday outlining its security zone in southern Lebanon and insisting it will not withdraw.

“IDF soldiers are stationed in the designated area of operation in southern Lebanon and will continue to remove threats and strengthen the defense of Israel’s northern residents,” the military said.

According to the IDF, forces will remain in the designated area to form what it has previously called a “forward defense line.”

The map indicates that Israeli forces have advanced deeper into Lebanese territory in recent months, including positions near the outskirts of Nabatieh and key terrain such as the Ali Taher ridge, which the army describes as a significant control point.

Iran claims that Israel’s presence in Lebanon violates the memorandum of understanding. Israel is not a party to the agreement.
