A 24-year-old Israeli man was moderately wounded Sunday morning in a terrorist stabbing attack near al-Auja in the Jordan Valley, after a terrorist attacked him from behind and fled, triggering a large-scale manhunt.

According to an initial Israel Police investigation, the victim had stopped his vehicle along Route 90 next to a commercial center and was standing outside the car when the terrorist approached from behind and stabbed him in the shoulder.

The attacker then fled the scene, prompting the IDF, Shin Bet and Israel Police to launch an extensive search. Troops established roadblocks around al-Auja and throughout the surrounding area, while police and forensic investigators collected evidence from the scene.

The victim was evacuated to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center in moderate condition. The hospital said he was stable and fully conscious.

Hours later, the IDF announced that troops had captured the suspect following the joint manhunt.

According to the military, intelligence provided during the search and capabilities deployed by the IDF and Shin Bet helped forces locate and arrest the suspect.

He was transferred to security forces for further interrogation.

“Security forces will continue to close the circle and act against every terrorist who harms or attempts to harm Israeli civilians and IDF troops,” the military said.

The arrest brought the hours-long manhunt to an end, while security forces continued investigating the attack.
