Electric cars can be spotted on every road, but one Israeli sailing company is adapting efficient, green electric energy for its boats.
Francis Eco Sailing launched Israel’s first commercial electric boat in the Kinneret, popularly known as the Sea of Galilee, Globes reported.
After securing a sailing license from Israel’s Ministry of Transport, Francis Eco Sailing entrusted the Corazine to the waters.
Francis Sailing, a leading name in tourism for decades, has established Francis Eco Sailing, the developer of Corazine, to mark a new phase in more sustainable sailing.
“This isn’t just another boat launch- it’s a milestone for clean transportation in Israel,” said Moshe Francis, co-founder of Francis Eco Sailing and a 30-year sailing specialist, according to Globes.
“The Sea of Galilee is a national treasure, and we believe tourism here should be part of the solution, not the problem. With Corazine, we are making sustainable sailing a reality.”
The Corazine is named after an ancient village close to the Kinneret. The boat has a speed of 12 knots and a cruising time of 18 hours. Currently, it has room for 55 passengers but will be expanded to accommodate a maximum of 100.
“Corazine” is not just a boat—it’s a floating symbol of where the industry is headed,” said Nir Lahav, CEO of Francis Eco Sailing, Globes reported. “It merges high-performance electric propulsion with zero-emission operation. No smoke, no noise, no oil in the water. Just pure, silent movement that enhances the onboard experience while protecting the natural beauty around us.”
Francis Eco Sailing is planning to expand beyond Corazine to include up to four electric boats in its fleet by the end of 2026.
The company is also thinking greener in every aspect of the sailing experience and is investing in staff training to create a more environmentally friendly approach to tourism.
“We’re not just electrifying boats—we’re reimagining what tourism can look like in the 21st century,” Lahav said. “This is the future of water travel: quiet, clean, and unforgettable.”
