US Special Representative for International Relations tweets that hateful ideology is a major challenge to achieving peace in the Middle East.

On Tuesday, US Special Representative for International Relations Jason Greenblatt condemned, through a series of tweets, the ongoing incitement by Palestinian leaders about Israel.

His comments followed the recent release of a video by senior Hamas official Fathi Hamad, who urged Arabs to “attack every Jew on earth.”

Greenblatt wrote, “When speaking about peace, we often hear slogans. But we need to deal in realities- here’s one reality. Watch this video. Please. Until this HATEFUL ideology is ERADICATED, this is one of the major challenges to achieving peace.”

Hamad has been on the US list of “global terrorists” since 2016, in part for his anti-Israel statements.

This is not the first time that Greenblatt has used his Twitter account to harshly criticize the Palestinian leadership, whether in Gaza or Ramallah, for inciting terrorism against Israel and the Jewish people.

In June, he slammed Fatah, the ruling party of the Palestinian Authority (PA), headed by Mahmoud Abbas, for calling for violence in response to the US-led Bahrain economic workshop whose goal was to help Palestinians achieve economic stability. He also blasted the “pay-for-slay” policy that supports terrorists in jail and their families.

On June 21, Greenblatt wrote, “The PA is asking for more money from the Arab countries, but they won’t come to a workshop which is designed to improve their economy & taper off endless aid. I think we all have to recognize that the endless aid (& rewarding terrorists) has to end. Time for a new paradigm.”

Three days later, the representative posted, “Fatah threatens an intifada, attacks & to “make the ground burn under the feet of tyrants.” How sad for those Palestinians who do not support this ugliness.”

Last week, Greenblatt again harshly criticized the PA for terror-funding policy, writing, “What government prioritizes terrorists over police? PA increased pay to murderers by over 11% at the same time as they slash pay to their government workers and police. More harm to Palestinians & to peace!”

In Greenblatt’s latest tweet, he stated, “If we truly want peace we need to move away from slogans and learn more about the conflict and its many challenges. The Hamas official in this video says that they have to ATTACK, SLAUGHTER and KILL EVERY JEW on the planet and that they will never recognize Israel. How’s that for a slogan?”
