The IDF uncovered and retrieved the bodies of five Palestinian terrorists who were killed last Monday during the IDF’s demolition of a terror tunnel dug from the Gaza Strip into Israel. The 5500-foot-long tunnel stretched from the Gaza Strip to Ein Hashlosha, an Israeli kibbutz along the frontier with Gaza.
“During ongoing operation to neutralize the terror tunnel that was targeted in Israel on 10/30, the IDF uncovered the bodies of five terrorists,” an IDF spokesman tweeted on Sunday.
The Hamas terror tunnels were built to enable kidnappings and mass-casualty terror attacks against Israeli civilians.
Meanwhile, Hamas refuses to return the bodies of IDF soldiers Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin, who were killed during Operation Protective Edge in 2014. The terror group is also holding three Israeli civilians captive and refuses to provide information on their condition.
“To defend the country we use a simple rule of thumb: Anyone trying to attack us, we attack them. Secondly, we don’t hand out gifts for nothing. We will bring our boys home, there are no free gifts,” Netanyahu stated on Monday.
In September, the Israeli leader met with International Committee of the Red Cross President Peter Maurer in Jerusalem, where they discussed the fate of the Israeli captives. Netanyahu expressed concern about Hamas’ “unbelievable cruelty as the bodies of its slain soldiers are kept, and even information about them is kept, and, no less important, innocent, defenseless civilians are being held in Gaza.”
Maurer reportedly requested to meet with the three Israeli captives, but Hamas refused to comply.
