Palestinian terrorists who tried to stab to death Israeli soldiers on Sunday was fatally shot by troops on the scene.

“An armed assailant with three knives connected to a stick” attempted to attack soldiers at the Gush Etzion Junction south of Bethlehem, the army said in a statement.

No soldiers were hurt and the military confirmed the attacker was killed.

Video shared on social media shows a man in a grey sweatshirt walking along the side of a highway. He pulls something out of his clothes and begins to run toward a soldier. The soldier fires his weapon, and the man collapses.

The military shared a photo of the weapon, which appears to be a cluster of knives taped to a broom handle.

The terrorist mounted the attack on the same day Defense Minister Benny Gantz’s office announced announced Israel is giving 5,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine to the Palestinians to immunize front-line medical workers.

Gantz’s office said early Sunday the transfer had been approved. There was no immediate comment from Palestinian officials.

Israel is one of the world’s leaders in vaccinating its population after striking procurement deals with international drug giants Pfizer and Moderna. The Health Ministry says nearly one-third of Israel’s 9.3 million people have received the first dose of the vaccine, while about 1.7 million people have received both doses.

The campaign includes Israel’s Arab citizens and Palestinians living in eastern portions of Jerusalem.

Palestinians living in Judea and Samaria are under the government of the Palestinian Authority, which is plagued by corruption and has refused to hold elections for over a decade.

Palestinians in Gaza are ruled by the Hamas terror group.

Despite Israel’s offer to assist the Palestinians with vaccine doses, Arab terrorists have mounted a series of shootings, stabbings and car-ramming attacks.

Last week, a Palestinian who attacked troops with a knife in northern Samaria. In December, a Palestinian murdered in cold blood Esther Horgan, an Israeli mother of six who was killed while she went jogging in the trails surrounding her community.
