Ari Fuld was an activist, spreading Israel’s story on social media and at public events. He also taught self-defense and self-confidence to youth.
Fuld put these skills to use to save the life of a fellow Israeli during the terror attack in which he lost his life, racing after his murderer and firing several shots at him before collapsing from the stab wounds to which he ultimately succumbed.
The trial of the Palestinian who murdered Fuld in the stabbing attack south of Jerusalem in September 2018 finally began on Monday afternoon, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Fuld was attacked at a shopping center in the Gush Etzion area that had served as a symbol of Israeli-Palestinian coexistence because of both groups patronized and worked there. Unfortunately, open access to both groups ultimately led to its use as the scene of deadly Palestinian terror attacks .
The suspect in the deadly attack on Fuld is Palestinian Khalil Yusef Ali Jabarin from the village of Yatta, a town south of Hebron that is considered a hotbed of Palestinian terror.
Fuld was was born in New York and immigrated to Israel in 1994. He was survived by his wife and four children, one of whom recently married after the murder.
Despite the serious injury he had sustained, Fuld chased down Jabarin, bounding over a stone wall to shoot the terrorist. Then, Fuld collapsed.
Another armed civilian also fired at the assailant, who sustained moderate wounds, says the newspaper, adding that he received treatment at Hadassah-Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.
