Two people were wounded when a terrorist opened fire at their car in the Shimon Hatzaddik neighborhood of Jerusalem on Tuesday morning.

According to the Israeli Police, the two victims were evacuated to a nearby hospital with moderate wounds.

One victim, a 48-year-old man, was taken to he Hadassah University Hospital-Ein Kerem with a gunshot wound that penetrated through the arm into the chest wall. A hospital spokesperson said the victim is conscious.

The other victim, a man in his 50s, was brought Jerusalem’s Shaare Tzedek Medical Center. A hospital spokesperson said the victim is stable and conscious and was transferred to an operating room after undergoing imaging tests.

A manhunt has been launched for the terrorist. Police officials said a Carlo-type gun used in the attack was found near the scene.

According to MDA paramedic Nir Buzaglo, among those who treated the victims, “The victims were hit by gunshots while traveling in a vehicle. They continued driving and stopped alongside a police car and reported the incident.”

“We were quickly on scene with large numbers of MDA teams. One of the victims was lying on the street and the other was walking nearby. They were fully conscious, with bullet wounds to their upper bodies. We provided initial medical treatment, stopped the bleeding, placed bandages and gave medications, and evacuated them in MDA mobile intensive care ambulances to hospitals, in moderate condition and fully conscious.”
