Marking 10 years since the month-long 2006 war with Hezbollah, Israel’s head of military intelligence, Maj. Gen. Herzi Halevi, said Wednesday at the 16th Herzliya Conference, that Israel is more prepared than ever and that Hezbollah would suffer greatly if it initiated another war.

Israel’s head of military intelligence, Maj. Gen. Herzi Halevi, warned Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon against starting another war with Israel.

Halevi said that if Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah “knew our abilities, our knowledge, our preparedness, he wouldn’t risk another conflict.”

The 2006 Second Lebanon War killed about 160 Israelis, mostly IDF soldiers.

Israeli airstrikes heavily damaged Lebanon’s infrastructure, while Hezbollah fired several thousand rockets into Israel.

Israeli officials say Hezbollah’s improved missile arsenal, which numbers at some 120,000 rockets along with weapons systems “that they never had before,” as Halevy described them, is now capable of striking virtually anywhere in the country. Israeli officials have estimated that will be hit be over 1,000 rocket a day in an eventual war with Hezbollah.

“In the Yom Kippur War, we had one person killed on the home front from a Syrian missile. The situation in the next conflict will be completely different,” the general said.

“I’m going to say this with all due caution, but there has never been an army that knows as much about its enemy as we know about Hezbollah,” the intelligence chief said.

“But still, the next war will not be simple, it will not be easy,” he said.

As for the southern front, Hamas for now is not interested or ready for another attack on Israel, he said, “but next month that could be different.”
