IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir ordered increased military readiness Thursday as Israel faces mounting tensions across multiple fronts, warning that the IDF must be prepared for the immediate deployment of additional forces.

Zamir issued the directive during a multi-front situation assessment, pointing to threats stretching from Iran and Lebanon to Gaza and heightened tensions in Judea and Samaria ahead of the upcoming Jewish holiday period.

“Many challenges lie ahead of us,” Zamir said. “We are advancing operational preparations on all fronts, from Iran and Lebanon to Gaza, and we are on high alert amid multi-front volatility.”

Against the backdrop of tensions in Judea and Samaria, Zamir ordered an additional regular division headquarters to raise its readiness to reinforce forces in the area.

“Beyond that, we must prepare for the immediate deployment of units and battalions to reinforce the area,” he said.

Zamir stressed that the military would remain at full strength throughout the holiday period.

“The IDF, across all its branches, will maintain full multi-front readiness throughout the holiday period,” he said. “There will be no stand-downs and no reduction in operational forces.”

The IDF chief also issued a stark warning over the military’s budget, saying financial constraints were beginning to affect readiness at a time when Israeli forces remain stretched across numerous fronts.

“Unfortunately, these days we also find ourselves in a battle over the budget,” Zamir said. “At a time when the IDF and its personnel are stretched across every front, we are forced to contend with an ‘empty treasury.’ Such a situation harms the IDF’s readiness.”

Zamir concluded that the military would remain focused solely on Israel’s security despite the dispute.

“We are engaged in defending the security of the State of Israel. That is the only consideration before us,” he said. “We will not be dragged into issues that could divert our focus and readiness.”
