World leaders who have cultivated close relationships with Israel congratulated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following Israel’s election, praising the country’s democratic process and reaffirming their ties with the Jewish state.

Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša congratulated Israel on the election and singled out Netanyahu and Likud after the party emerged as the largest faction in the new Knesset.

“Congratulations to Israel, the only democratic state in the region, on an election with high voter turnout,” Janša wrote.

“Congratulations to Netanyahu and Likud on their victory. It is not easy to fight on two fronts and win.”

Janša also emphasized the relationship between Israel and Slovenia.

“We value our dialogue and the longstanding friendship between our countries. We sincerely wish peace and security for the people of Israel and better future for a whole region.”

Netanyahu responded warmly, describing Janša as a close friend and pointing to growing cooperation between the two countries.

“Thank you, my dear friend,” Netanyahu wrote. “I deeply appreciate your warm congratulations and your steadfast friendship.”

“Together, we have opened a new chapter in relations between Israel and Slovenia, built on shared values, mutual respect and a determination to turn friendship into concrete achievements.”

Netanyahu added that he looked forward to continuing their cooperation and welcoming Janša to Jerusalem.

Argentine President Javier Milei, one of Israel’s most outspoken international supporters, also congratulated Netanyahu following the election.

“Congratulations, dear friend Netanyahu, on the great election by Likud, which once again became the leading political force in Israel,” Milei wrote.

“Once again you have demonstrated the strength of your leadership, even in the face of polls and predictions against you.”

Milei used the occasion to reaffirm the increasingly close relationship between Argentina and Israel, saying the two countries would “continue to be strategic allies against those who challenge our Western values.”

Netanyahu responded by praising Milei’s support for Israel and the relationship the two leaders have developed.

“Javier, your friendship means a great deal to me, and your unwavering support for Israel means even more,” Netanyahu wrote.

“You are a courageous leader, a true friend of the Jewish state, and a man who stands by his convictions.”

Netanyahu said the relationship between Israel and Argentina had developed into an “extraordinary partnership” that was having an impact beyond the two countries.

“Together, we have built an extraordinary partnership between Israel and Argentina, a friendship that has spread across Latin America,” he said. “Together, we will take this friendship to even greater heights.”

Likud finished the election as the largest individual party in the Knesset, although the final results left neither of Israel’s main political blocs with a governing majority.

The messages from Janša and Milei came as Israel begins the next stage of the political process, with consultations and coalition negotiations set to determine the composition of the next government.

Regardless of the eventual coalition, the exchanges highlighted some of the close international relationships Israel has developed with leaders who have publicly supported the country through the challenges of recent years.
