Residents of the Gaza border town Rafah, fled in terror from the Egyptian army as they destroyed civilian homes in a scene reminiscent of Jewish history, Meanwhile the world media and international community remained silent, reserving criticism and condemnation only for Israel.

Armed Egyptian soldiers have been rounding up residents of Rafah, an Egyptian city close to the Gaza border, and blowing up their homes – with minimal media coverage or condemnation.

The purpose is to create a buffer zone in Rafah – a strip of land 14 km. long and half a kilometer wide – between Egypt and Gaza after the discovery on Saturday of hundreds of smuggling terror tunnels into Sinai via satellite imagery. This, despite previous Egyptian efforts to eliminate them, according to the Arabic-language Sky News. The demolition began following a surge of Hamas terror in the Sinai culminating in the death of 33 Egyptian military personnel.

“Egypt is fighting a war of existence,” Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi declared.

Let My People Go: Israel’s Fight for Survival

Israel, too, has been fighting for its survival. In fact, Operation Protective Edge was launched – as its name indicates – as a protective effort and with the main goal of destroying Hamas terror tunnels reaching into Israel, threatening thousands of civilians and, in fact, the existence of the Jewish State.

The media and the international community have condemned Israel, with the U.S. president calling for “restraint” and a call at the U.N. for an investigation into Israeli “war crimes.”

How You Can Show Support for Israel

The people of Israel remain peace-loving and resilient despite all of the negative media attention blaming them for the war with Hamas. Metal sculptor Yaron Bob provides a living example of one man turning the tools of terror into something beautiful. For years, he has collected the metal from Hamas rockets that have fallen in the Land of Israel, and molded them into sculptures, Menorahs and other collectible pieces. We here at United with Israel love his work, and think more people should know about it.
