President Obama seems to be tired of the Middle East as he speaks of the possibility of reconciliation with Iran and has plans to scale back the war on ISIS.

President Barack Obama had warm words for Iran as he spoke to National Public Radio during an end-of-the-year interview.

Obama discussed several domestic issues during the interview recorded on December 18 as well as the recent reconciliation between Washington and Havana.

“Is there any scenario under which you can envision, in your final two years, opening a U.S. embassy in Tehran?” the interviewer asked.

Obama’s answer: “I never say never, but I think these things have to go in steps.”

Obama did acknowledge that Iran has a track record of state-sponsored terrorism, that they are trying to develop nuclear weapons and that they are engaged in disruptions to America’s allies, as well as the anti-America and anti-Israel rhetoric.

Deal with Iran ‘Would Be Good for Everybody’

However, the president believes that if Iran negotiates with America and the Western powers and makes a deal regarding their nuclear aspirations, then they are destined for a rosy future, “because if they do [come to an understanding with the West], there’s incredible talent and resources and sophistication inside of Iran and it would be a very successful regional power that was also abiding by international norms and international rules — and that would be good for everybody. That would be good for the United States, that would be good for the region, and most of all, it would be good for the Iranian people,” Obama stated.

Israel is fearful of the Obama administration’s impulse to strike a deal with Iran at any cost.

Senator John McCain warned at the beginning of December that “the Iranians have a long record of cheating, of concealing their nuclear capabilities. They continue to develop the warhead and the missiles to deliver nuclear weapons. We’re on the verge of – if the administration has its way – a very bad deal.”

No More Money for War on ISIS

Obama launched an international campaign in September against the Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL) terror organization, which is wreaking havoc across large segments of the Middle East.

Obama seems less keen on the mission now, stating that the U.S. would not appropriate further funds for the war on the murderous Islamist group.

“I think we can’t underestimate the danger of ISIL. They are a terrorist network that, unlike Al Qaeda, has not limited itself to the periodic attack but have aspirations to control large swaths of territory that possess resources and effectively an army that poses great dangers to our allies and can destabilize entire regions that are very dangerous for us,” said Obama.

However, “it’s not the only danger we have… us devoting another trillion dollars after having been involved in big occupations of countries that didn’t turn out all that well — I’m very hesitant,” Obama stated. He would rather spend the resources on domestic projects.

Ultimately, the Middle East needs to fend for itself, Obama believes, as “what we’ve also learned is that if we do for others what they need to do for themselves — if we come in and send the Marines in to fight ISIL and the Iraqis have no skin in the game, then it’s not going to last.”

In the meantime, ISIS’s reign of terror has claimed the lives of at least 2,000 people in the past six months. Obama may be interested in focusing on domestic issues, but ISIS has no such plans. They have openly declared their aspiration to dominate the world and create a caliphate.

“We will conquer your Rome, break your crosse, and enslave your women, by the permission of Allah, the Exalted. This is His promise to us; He is glorified and He does not fail in His promise. If we do not reach that time, then our children and grandchildren will reach it, and they will sell your sons as slaves at the slave market,” ISIS declared.
