Security forces arrested the Palestinian terrorist who drove his car into four Israelis in Samaria on Thursday. He admitted to being influenced by Palestinian incitement.

The Shin Bet, Israel’s Security Agency, and an elite IDF unit, in a joint overnight operation arrested the terrorist who drove his vehicle into four IDF soldiers Thursday afternoon near the Israeli community of Beit Aryeh is Samaria, just east of the Tel Aviv district.

Muhammad Abdel Halim Abdel Alhamid Salem, 37, a member of the terrorist Hamas organization, is from the Palestinian village of Al-Lubban al-Gharbi, near Ramallah.

Following the attack on Thursday, he managed to flee the scene. Police forces located the car, which had weapons inside.

During his interrogation, Salem said that he had been influenced by Palestinian incitement, particularly the claims that Israel wanted to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount and that the IDF murders Palestinian children. Anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic incitement and the glorifying of terrorists is rampant under the Palestinian Authority, including at cultural events, in the educational system and in the media.

In 2001, Salem spent six months in administrative detention for six months, but since then, according to the Shin Bet, he was not involved in terrorist activity.
