Israeli buses are often a target of Arab terror, and so Israel’s 10,000 bus drivers are set to receive Krav Maga training, learning how to defend themselves and their passengers with the use of the famous Israeli martial art, Arutz 7 reports. They will also be receiving additional training in suspect identification. The drivers will receive 10 hours of training each.

In addition, Jerusalem plans to reinstate its public transportation security unit, Israel’s Channel 2 reported on Monday. During the Second Intifada, security guards would ride the buses regularly, but the unit was disbanded as the security situation improved. The current plan includes the deployment of 300 guards who will secure the bus routes and stations.

The plan was reportedly approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In addition, the Ministry of Transportation has conduced scouting tours of the city and has mapped out the potential hazardous areas in need of a boosted security presence.

Broader Plans for Fighting Terror

The recent escalation of terrorism has left Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and many Members of the Knesset pushing for stronger punitive measures against Arab terrorists.

These measures include the demolition of terrorists’ homes, the revoking of Israeli residency from the families of terrorists and all the benefits it entails, as well as other measures designed to minimize terror and deter terrorists from carrying out further attacks.

Relating to Israel’s demolition of a terrorist’s home last week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated:

“This morning we demolished the home of a terrorist. This is a significant and important step and there will be more home demolitions; there will be many more steps. We have nothing against the residents of eastern Jerusalem, but we will not tolerate attacks on our citizens and we will act against those who do these things and against those engaged in incitement. With a determined and vigorous hand, we will restore security to Jerusalem.”

How You Can Help Israel and Jerusalem

Israel’s sovereignty in Jerusalem, its capital, has come under increased attack in past weeks. We need to stand together and show the world that Jerusalem is not some bargaining chip in border negotiations or a rally point for terrorists. It is a Holy City meant to provide a beacon of light to all nations under the sovereignty of Israel.
