The Hamas terror organization fired 32 rockets into the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of the Gaza Strip on Friday, in apparent tests of its domestically-produced weaponry.

Hamas has been developing its own rockets and other explosive projectiles after smuggling routes via Egypt and the sea have been shot down by Egypt’s army and Israel’s counter-smuggling efforts.

Since Israel decimated Hamas’ terror infrastructure during Operation Protective Edge, Hamas has been working relentlessly to rehabilitate its networks and replenish its weapons stockpiles.

Israel has recently thwarted several attempts to smuggle weapons-producing materials into Gaza, including pipes used to make rockets and chemicals used as propellant.

Palestinian terrorists have intermittently fired rockets into Israel over the past months, the last such attack occurring in the end of May. No one was injured in the attack and no damage was caused by the explosion.

IDF officials have cautioned that Hamas is preparing for another assault on Israel. The IDF is preparing for such an eventuality.
